Medi Facial

A clinical-grade facial in which the actives, strength and sequence are selected for your specific skin condition rather than following a fixed routine. Every medi facial at Aglow is prescribed after assessment, which is what separates it from a salon facial.

Who it is for

  • Pigmentation, uneven tone and dullness
  • Congestion, blackheads and mild to moderate acne
  • Rough or uneven texture
  • Skin that has plateaued on home care alone
  • Anyone who wants a clinical treatment with no downtime

Who it is not for

  • Active, inflamed cystic acne this needs to settle first, and often needs a dermatologist
  • Broken skin, active infection, recent sunburn or active eczema in the treatment area
  • Anyone who has had a resurfacing procedure in the last two weeks
  • Anyone expecting a permanent result from one session

How it works

A medi facial layers professional-strength actives that home products cannot deliver at the same concentration or depth. The sequence typically includes a double cleanse, controlled exfoliation, extraction where appropriate, an active infusion selected for your concern, a calming and hydrating phase, and sun protection.

What makes it clinical rather than cosmetic is the selection. The acid, its strength, its contact time and what follows it are all decisions made against your skin type, your pigment risk and your history.

The Aglow method

  • We assess pigment risk first on higher-melanin skin, an exfoliation step that is too strong causes post-inflammatory pigmentation, so we start conservative and increase across the protocol
  • We check the barrier before we correct sometimes the first two sessions are repair work, and we will tell you if that is the case
  • We adjust for the season Chennai's UV and humidity load changes what is safe, so a protocol run in May is not identical to one run in December

Frequently asked

How is a medi facial different from a regular facial?

A regular facial is a fixed routine applied to everyone. A medi facial uses professional-strength actives selected for your skin after assessment, at a concentration and depth home products cannot reach.

Does it hurt?

No. Most people describe mild tingling or warmth during the active step, lasting a few minutes. There is no numbing required.

Is there any downtime?

None. Some people have a mild flush for up to an hour. You can return to work and wear makeup the next day.

How soon will I see results?

You will see brightness and smoothness after the first session. Meaningful change in pigmentation or texture builds across six to eight sessions over three to four months.

How long do results last?

With monthly maintenance and daily sun protection, results hold well. Without sun protection they will not, and we will tell you that plainly.

How many sessions will I need?

Most concerns need a minimum of six to eight sessions. Your number is confirmed at assessment.

What should I avoid before coming in?

Stop retinol and acids for three days before. Avoid waxing, threading and sun exposure for a week. Come with clean skin if you can.

Are there any risks or side effects?

Temporary redness, mild flaking and short-lived sensitivity are the common ones. On higher-melanin skin there is a risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation if exfoliation is too aggressive, which is precisely why we start conservative.

Who will perform my treatment?

A named, trained practitioner. You will be told who before your appointment and you can request the same person each visit.

Results vary from person to person. Some concerns need a dermatologist rather than a Wellness treatment we'll say so at consultation.
